Balangan

Intermediate and advanced surfer

Balangan is a beautiful bay located down towards the southern peninsula of Bali. The reef is right in front of the white sand beach and only a short paddle out. The wave itself, a left-hander that is often a sectiony close-out, is very fast and hollow. Best on the mid to high tide. Intermediates will deal with small swells, Advanced surfers will charge the big days.

Batu Bolong

Beginner and intermediate surfer

Batu Bolong is located in the Canggu Village, south part of Bali, and is close to other famous surfing points like Brawa Beach, Oldmans and Echo Beach.
The generally fat mellow waves are not powerful and suitable for beginner surfer and long board.

Batu Bolong Temple

Beginner and intermediate surfer

Batu Bolong Temple is located on the left side next to the main surf break Batu Bolong, in the front of the Balinese Temple. Mellow A-Frame wave, not really powerful and suitable for beginner surfer and long board.

Bingin

Intermediate and advanced surfer

Bingin is the next reef south of Balangan. The reef is close to the shore and only a short paddle out. There is only one take off area, which can get very crowded through the peak season. The wave itself is short, sharp and shallow.

Berawa

Intermediate and advanced surfer

Just a short distance from Canggu, Berawa Beach provides more than two surf spots, which break over rocky reefs and shape up some nice right- and left-hander waves.
Get onto the right peak and catch good quality powerful waves. Berawa works best at low and mid tide.

Dreamland

Beginner and intermediate surfer

Located beneath the big hotel complexes and golf coarse that strech across the Bukit from Balangan to Bingin, this once calm and beautiful beach is now a tourist hotspot. The A-frame wave peaks over a sandy reef platform and works best on low tide.

Echo Beach

Intermediate and advanced surfer

One of the 3 main breaks at Canggu, Echo Beach is a powerful left-hand reef break right in front of the café´s. This place can get pretty busy through out the whole year. Usually Echo Beach needs a bit of water so around mid to high on the run in and then high to mid on the run out. More peaks can be found towards the west to Pererenan.

Impossible

Intermediate and advanced surfer

Impossible is located between Bingin and Padang Padang. The waves breaking over a long stretch of coral reef, usually separate in 3 sections, which give different take off spots. While looking picture perfect from the cliffs, the waves can be impossible fast at some point in the wave. But when lining up good with the right wave high you can expect some very long rides. Paddeling out over the sharp low tide reed is best done in booties.

Keramas

Intermediate and advanced surfer

Powerful right-hander that can produce some deep barrels or leaves an open face for progressive move rides. The wave is breaking over a reef and rock bottom before it closes-out on the inside.
The east-coast surf spot Keramas is like any good wave really popular. Early mornings, with higher, incoming tides are the best.
This place can be surfed from waist high right through to triple overhead. Watch out for the current when it gets bigger.

Oldmans

Beginner and intermediate surfer

This mellow A-frame wave is located in Canggu and close to other famous surfing points like Batu Bolong and Echo Beach.
Generally fat and friendly up to headhigh, it can handle some sizable sets that will break a long way out. Suitable for beginner surfer and long board.

Padang-Padang

Advanced surfer

Padang Padang, located in the south of Bali, only starts to work when a big swell is running. Then the left-hand spot turns into an epic barreling wave paradise. Stairs will take you down to a beautiful beach in front of the reef with easy paddle out through the channel. The ride starts with a pitching lip take-off that sets up into a perfect wall. Barrel intensity increases as it draws more water off the shallow coral reef.
Because of it’s world-wide fame Padang-Padang can get dangerously crowded. But if you are lucky and catch it early morning with the right conditions it’s something you will never forget.

Sandbar

Intermediate and advanced surfer

Left hand sand bar with a sand bottom lies between the famous Echo Beach surf spot right in front of the café´s and the right hand river mouth Pererenan in Canggu.
On small days in the waist high range there are waves that suit everyone. But as it reaches the head to double head high the spot turns on and can really pack some punch.

Uluwatu

Advanced surfer

Uluwatu is situated at the southern end of Bali and is considered by many to be one of the best waves anywhere in the world. Ulu´s has the ability to handle any size swell from small to large.
There are 4 different sections at Ulu´s:
There’s Temples which always produces long and hollow waves that work on the mid to high tide.
The Peak right in front of the warungs in line with the cave with it´s steep drops and open faces with hollow pockets also works best on the high tide.
Racetrack is a super fast but makeable barrel that works best on low tide but also gets seriously shallow.
Outside Corner with heavy, thick-lipped sections
won´t even start to break unless the swell exceeds the 8-10ft mark.
Apart from the crowd and the reef another hazard is the way back in. If you miss the spot south of the cave to come back in you’ll have to paddle another 15min circuit for another try.
