How to get from Bali to Nusa Lembongan?

Nusa Lembongan is famous for its surfing, snorkeling and sunsets. The perfect place to put your feet up and relax for a few days. Sanur on the south coast of Bali is the main gateway to Nusa Lembongan. So regardless of where you are actually staying at, you will have to wade onto a boat at Sanur Beach. None of the boats use a pier. You will need to wade up to about knee-depth, sometimes more to the back of the boat and then climb into the boat.

Which boat service to use?

When you arrive on Sanur Beach there are fast boats and slow boats, shiny boats and rusty boats and many other options.

The fast boats
There are two main fast boat services Rocky Fast Cruise and Scoot Cruise. Both companies offer pick-up and drop-off services in Bali and Nusa Lembongan. Both services have life jackets stowed under the seat and porters carrying and storing the bags on and off the boat for you. The boat trip takes about 30 minutes.

Rocky Fast Cruises charges 500.000 IDR return (incl. pick-up and drop-off services)

There are a bunch of other operators offering a fast boat service for less. Personally, I feel Rocky and Scoot is worth the extra money.

Perama boat
If the fast boats break your budget, use Perama Boat. It takes about an hour to 90 minutes and charges 280.000 IDR return (surfboard extra 15.000 IDR/ board)
Time of Departure
Sanur-Lembongan

Lembongan-Sanur

Like many local boat services in Indonesia the Perama boat meets few of the safety regulations. There are no life jackets and the boats can be overloaded. In bad weather, or when you are travelling with children do not use this service.

The local boat
There are no big differences in the Local boat and the Perama boat. The boat takes about an hour to 90 minutes and charges 100.000 – 200.000 IDR return (depending on your bargaining skills). No life jackets. In bad weather do not use the local boat, boats have sunk on the Bali to Nusa Lembongan route.
